India's Dream Solar Project
Purpose of sharing the report will make us understand
about various technical aspects of projects, installation
challenges, scale of projects, Machinery involved in
projects. It will not give you a direct knowhow about any
installation or technical specification but with this we can
make inference about what kind of risks were involved, no.
of machines required, project management and Backup
plan to fight against any unwanted situations.
These facts look very small but are very important in
Project Planning and Management, these facts also affects
the Engineering policies to great extent.
1. Total land Area 2500 acre, 60 Taj- Mahal Can be built-in.
2. Outdoor warehouse facility equivalent to 6 Opera House of Sydney.
3. Fire will be a great problem to tackle as there is continuous array system without leaving
space for fire frightening.
4. Invertors are trapped in array of panels leaving small space to run through, a fire or
spark in invertor can even be disastrous which can burn an entire cluster.
5. There will be a huge power fluctuation in power production because of size of plant,
which can even lead to failure of state grid system.( May Impact BI or TP liability.)
6. Plant production is controlled by SCADA, one have to keep eye on failure rate.
7. Plant is standing on 3.8lac pile bore for Steel structure.
8. Steel structure has passed various test to withstand cyclones and high wind speed, but
still will face huge looses because panels are not made to withstand such huge pressure
winds.
9. Daily 2000 piling was done.
10.Panel covered an area of 1270 acre equivalent to 476 football fields.
11.Total Galvanized Steel Used 30,000 Metric Tonnes enough to construct 4 Eiffel tower .
12.Total Panels area is divided into clusters of 4 to 5 MW each.
13.144 pre-engineered house are there to house 576 invertors.
14.7700km long cabling is done for plant, these cable such long to connect New Delhi to
Perth , Australia.
15.Daily erection was of 3MW.
16.The site is divided into 5 units of different capacity.
17.GSS are quality made following every aspect of protection.
18.Earlier (worlds largest) similar project of 579 MW in California Rosamond, US had taken
3years for completion whereas this 678 MW project timeline is within year only.
19.Even after devastating floods of 2015 aroused of North West Monsoon when get
diverted to South Indian they were able to complete around 1 to 1.5MW installation per
day.
20.Just for this one project company received more than 6000 containers from China, Japan,
Taiwan, Malaysia, Turkey, Israel, Italy, Germany and Switzerland.
21.2500 worker working in 3 shifts making it equivalent to 8500 workers.
22.Inundation can be a big problem to the projects.
