Asbestos is a group of minerals that occur naturally as durable fibers. It is highly toxic and can cause serious health issues like lung cancer when tiny fibers are inhaled. While asbestos is banned in many countries due to environmental and health risks, it is still used in some building construction in North America because it is useful for that purpose.

Asbestos is the name given to a group of minerals that occur naturally in the environment as bundles of fibers that can be separated into thin, durable threads.It is a highly toxic chemical Asbestos minerals are divided into two major groups .
Serpentine asbestos includes the mineral chrysotile, which has long, curly fibers that can be woven. Amphibole asbestos includes the minerals actinolite,tremolite, anthophyllite,crocidolite,and amosite.
It is not ban because its dangerous to the environment and to our health. People may be exposed to asbestos in their work place or their homes. If products containing asbestos are disturbed, tiny asbestos are release into the air. When asbestos breath in they may get trap in the lungs which cause of lung cancer and lead to serious health problems illness and heart attack.
In other countries asbestos are prohibited but in North America it allowed to used because it is useful in making building construction.
