Araya has a wide range of research, teaching, and professional experiences in Architecture. Working as a senior lecturer for nearly seventeen years, she had a lot of episodes in guiding her students for creative learning, museum study, Asian culture and designing for sustainable development. During 2012-13, as a Humphrey fellow in SPURS MIT, she had developed a special interest in art and social change; a White Artlink workshop focusing on art in action and community capacity building.
