Dr. Sukumar Bandopadhyay has served as the Dean of the School of Mineral Engineering, Director of the Mineral Industry Research Laboratory, and Director of the Petroleum Development laboratory from July 2001-December 2005. He is currently a Professor of Mining Engineering at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. He received his B.Sc. degree in mining engineering and M.Tech degree in mine planning from Banaras Hindu University, India. He also holds an MS degree in mining engineering and operations research and Ph.D. degree in mining engineering from Pennsylvania State University. He is a registered professional engineer in the State of Alaska.
