#4: For a little background:
This program came together thanks to a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, as a collaboration between the South Central Regional Library Council, The Empire State Library Network, and the School of Information Studies at Syracuse University.
#5: Our first cohort began working September 2015 and the second cohort began working February 2016. They included participants from all over the country, from all types of libraries, subject specializations, and library experience levels. Based on their feedback about the program, now weve made it even better! Some of them are here today to share their experiences.
#6: The program is composed of 7 modules, each one building on the last as you work on developing a unit of online instruction for your own library community, to be piloted during the Capstone module.
The modules are designed to take about 3-5 hours a week, over 2-6 weeks; most take 4 weeks.
#7: The Orientation and Capstone modules serve as bookends to the 5 key content areas created by our course developers, and in this webinar series well cover each of these, starting today with Dr. Marilyn Arnone and the Foundation Module.
#8: For our self-paced, on-demand modules on WebJunction, weve added a few features. Each weeks content is now organized in a lesson format, with open reflection questions and multiple choice challenge questions for you to gauge your progress as you go.
#9: Theres space for the reflection questions in our new D4L Instructional Design Workbook. Theres a different chapter to work through for each module, helping you to keep all your work together for a final portfolio.
#10: The workbook gives you a place to continuously revise your instructional design plan for your final capstone project. Youll hear more about this revision process from our presenters today.
#11: Ill put up these links for a moment, but well also share them again at the end.
