I am an author, economist, and cofounder of Innovations journal and Zilla Global LLC. I currently lead the Global Entrepreneurship Research Network, an initiative of the Kauffman Foundation, and the National Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. My most recent book, The Code Economy: A Forty-Thousand-Year History, describes how code has been a key driver of the development of human society from simplicity to complexity, over the span of millennia.
