The document provides background information on Burkina Faso, including that it is a landlocked country in West Africa with a population of over 15 million people and a capital of Ouagadougou. It discusses Burkina Faso gaining independence from France in 1960 and changing its name from Upper Volta to Burkina Faso in 1984. The document also describes an orphanage called Sandeba in Burkina Faso that houses 100 children with only 4 volunteers, and outlines some of its basic needs for funding and support.
2. –There are only four dedicated volunteers people to care for the children.
–The orphanage is one of the most populated but also the most underfunded in the country, they
need everything.
For example, the centre uses 25 kilos of rice and 50 litres of water daily.
–Three buildings with bed rooms, bathrooms, a kitchen and a
canteen.
–They have access to running water but it is undrinkable because
of bacteria and parasites.
–They also have some solar panels which provide two hours of electricity a day.
–The centre has a small school with three class rooms.
–There is also a small medical clinic which is mostly run by volunteers instead of a doctor.
The orphanage needs a regular income of 400 000 francs CFA (800 Euro) a month, in order to
provide the children with adequate nutrition, healthcare and education. If 50 people give 180
Euro a year, that is 15 Euro a month, the children's basic needs will be met.
Your contributions will go directly to help the children without any intermediate or administration
costs.
Your help will make a difference in these orphans lives.
