I do data analysis at Bord Gais. This involves sourcing data from our data warehouse, building an analytics data mart and using a variety of tools to prepare data for analysis. 80% of any data analysis is spent in preparing data and to do this my tools of choice are SQL, Python and Excel.
Analysis is the fun part and is a simple mix of creating a "picture" for business users to understand the data and inferential statistics to help them make the best decisions possible. Main tool set here is Excel, R, Minitab and more recently Python (NumPy and SciPy)
