Superintendent Chavez has led several very challenging school districts that have had a wide range of issues. e.g. low or no accountability, racial tension, gang activity and low student achievement to name a few.
In Brewster, he inherited a school district with a history of levy failures and a discrimination lawsuit that had been lost in court just before he arrived as superintendent. As the new superintendent his team worked diligently to fullfill the court order, fix unhealthy systems, rebuild programs lost during levy failures, have critical conversations, put accountability in place, innovate throughout the district, heal & rebuild relationships after the lawsuit, etc.
