As an artist, I am often asked if the creative process involves a certain amount of research. Curiously
enough, it often comes a surprise that the creative act, regardless of whether the artist does so
knowingly or not, springs from a foundation of previously held concepts and an amazing amount of
exploratory experiments on pushing the boundaries of what is commonly held as Art. More often than
not, the common (and romantic) image the ordinary person has of an artist is one of an idiot savant who
spends his time locked up in his studio, waiting for the muse to move him, so he can indulge the
mysterious urgings that push him to fling pigment on canvas. I suppose this is similar to the common
