I was born in a large Mon village called Ahlat, Paung Township, Thahton district, MawLaMyine division (Or Mon state now), 1289 鈥� Thadingyut LaPyiKyaw 14, Monday in Traditional Burmese calendar. It may be 1927 in English era. When I was born, a large play 鈥� drama (dancing group) call Aung Chit Tin was performing in Ahlat Village, so they named me 鈥淐hit Tin鈥�. After my monkshood I changed it to Chit Win.
