Since 1976, I have worked in 35 countries in Europe, the USA, and Asia on the transfer of environmental policy and law between countries and regions. I edited and produced the first compendium of European Union environmental law (10 languages). Most of my work during the 1990s has concerned preparation for the accession of central and eastern European countries to the EU. Since 1999, I also work in Asia on the development of policies and law related to environment and development, in particular water, waste management, and minerals extraction.
