Socorro was born in Michoacán, México but moved to San Juan Capistrano when he was fifteen years old. He began working hard from the moment that he arrived in the United States. He did everything from dishwashing, to working at an auto shop. His number one goal from the get go was to learn English as quickly as possible so he kept a notebook and when he learned a new word, he would write it down twenty times in his English notebook. Needless to say he learned quickly. When he was twenty, he bought his first truck and lawn mower. Socorro started mowing people’s lawns on the weekends while he kept up his regular job.
