Muscle regeneration
My current research focuses on the influence of the extracellular matrix on the regeneration of skeletal muscle in ageing and injury. The ability of skeletal muscle to regenerate depends on both the stem cells resident in adult muscle and whether the surrounding environment provides the support and biological cues that these cells need to proliferate and differentiate to form muscle fibres.
