Helen is a passionate advocate for the rights of communities to make local decisions locally. In 2014, she was awarded the Goldman Environmental Prize for North America. She is a sought after speaker, recently presenting a TEDx talk in Brussels for the World Wildlife Fund, keynoting the 2015 Public Interest Environmental Law Conference in Oregon, and debating at the Yale Political Union. Helen was one of six activists featured in PBS'​ New Environmentalist series, narrated by Robert Redford. Helen's groundbreaking and successful fight against fracking in NYS was profiled in the November 2014 ABA Journal.
