Diane holds a B.A. in Classics from Stanford University and a M.A. and Ph.D. from Princeton University's Department of Art and Archaeology. She was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to work on her dissertation in Greece, where she lived for three years as a member of the American School of Classical Studies in Athens, and she has excavated in Israel, Greece, and Cyprus. She taught Greek and Roman History and Archaeology for 13 years, winning tenure in the History Department at California State University Fresno
