Dr. Iris Deana Ruiz is Lecturer for the Merritt Writing Program and has been teaching at UC Merced for three years. She obtained her Ph.D. in Literature with and emphasis in Rhetoric and Composition from the University of California, San Diego in 2010 and wrote her dissertation on the process and possible merits of teaching Critical Historiography in the Composition classroom. . She plans on converting her dissertation into manuscript format within the next two years.
