The document discusses creating a music video using silhouettes to tell a story through a character's journey. It proposes using a morphsuit-wearing actor and changing props to represent stages of life from infant to old age. Inspiration comes from experimental films using techniques like backwards editing. The target audience is described as indie music fans aged 16-25. Health and safety considerations for filming include selecting a low-risk outdoor location with enough space and a red backdrop to key out the green morphsuit.
2. SILHOUETTE
A silhouette is the effect of a
featureless blacked out figure
on a still image or moving
picture which allows us to
create a character and adapt
on their currently blank
image or personality.
The silhouette allows us to
tell a story of this character
without the boundaries and
stereotypes associate with
image and persona.
3. JOURNEYS
The idea of a journey can be
used as a framework for
telling a story.
Much like a long road it has
many twists and turns in the
distance that you can’t see
which means you may be able
to predict the immediate
future but further on the
situation could completely
change. This allows us to
escape the hold of illustrative
videos (like a club scene for a
dance track), we like the idea
of not knowing what’s coming
next.

7. INSPIRATIONS
• Andrew Goodwin’s framework for analysis
• Dziga Vertov’s Man With A Movie Camera –
the use of backwards editing and multi-layer
editing
• Ideas from the class
• The Kite Runner
8. TARGET AUDIENCE
• Genre; indie pop/alternative
• This idea will be interesting to a nonconformist group of people.
• Age range of 16-25
• Non gender specific
9. HEALTH & SAFETY AND LOGISTICS
Location – Needs to be a location with enough
distance to be able to cover in a 3 minute long
take with no hazardous objects or obstacles to
overcome. A risk assessment will be done
beforehand. An ideal place would be away from
traffic and oncoming pedestrians.
Background – The ideal background would be red to
contrast with the green of the costume and make
it easier to use the green screen feature.
