Dr. Hilario finished his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Arts in Psychology at the University of the Philippines in Diliman.
He completed his PhD in Counseling Psychology from De La Salle University-Dasmarinas ( graduated with highest distinction).
His two-decade career in the academe began in San Beda College Alabang. He started from the ranks of the non-teaching staff as Grade School Psychometrician. He was appointed to different academic and administrative positions in San Beda College.
