Myocardium
-is the heart’s muscular wall
-it contracts and relaxes causing
the heart beat.
Contracts 60-80 times per minute
-The amount of blood that is pumped is
about 130 mL of blood
-every beat makes 7 liters per minute
The heart’s
interior shows
the left side and
the right side
that are
separated by a
thick muscular
wall. This wall is
called septum.
The heart has four chambers namely:
Right Atrium Left Atrium
Right Ventricle Left Ventricle
The atria (plural of atrium)
are smaller wall with
thinner walls
The ventricles are
bigger with thicker
walls
The atria holds the
blood before it goes
down to the ventricle
The right ventricle
pumps to the lungs
The left ventricle
pumps the blood to
all the parts of
the body
AORTA
LUNGS
The valves that are found between the atria and
ventricles with the blood vessels attached to them
prevent blood from flowing backwards
Tricuspid
Valve
Bicuspid
Valve
Aorticsemilunar
valve
Pulmonary semilunar
valve

the blood flow inside the
heart
