I was born in Dayton, Ohio, started elementary school in Lawrence, Kansas, and finished secondary school in Ithaca, New York. In 1965 I graduated from St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York. Having participated in ROTC, I then went into the U.S. Army Signal Corps. I spent two years in Germany and one year in Viet Nam before returning to graduate school in 1969 at the University of Maryland in College Park. In 1971 I completed my Masters Degree in Mathematics, and I began teaching here at Prince George's Community College. I finished my PhD in Mathematics Education in 1986.
I am married with two children and five grandchildren.
