- 1. Caio Plinio The institute takesthe name afterGaioPlinioSecondo,whowasborninthe first century AD inComo. CaioPlinio isahigh school situatedinthe centerof Como.Thisyearthe 150 anniversaryof the school isbeing celebrated. In our school there are two differentbuildingsand fourdifferentsectors:AFM, SIA,RIM and Tourism. AFMstandsfor administration,finance andmarketing, it isbasedoneconomy. RIM meansinternational relationformarketing,the mostimportant subjects are economyand3 foreignlanguages. In Sia, informaticsadministrationsystemof,you mainly workon informatics. The fourth fieldis Tourism, we study3foreignlanguages, arthistory,economyof tourismandgeography. Our school hasthe followingfacilities:abar, a gym and the studentshall and a library. The school offerssome activitiessuchas a theatre course , a choir . Studentscan go on internships. There are twodays dedicatedtosportsandcreativity. OUR CLASS The name of our classis 4TUR1. Ourclass isnot located inthe main building, whichyoucansee above, but inthe branch (viaRezia) ,still inComo. Our classis composedby29 students,9boysand 20 girls, itis a mixedage groupfrom16 to20,however mostof us are 17; thisyearinour class there are only28 students,because one of ourclassmates is attendingone school yearinIreland. Our classspecializesontourismandwe study4 foreignlanguages:English,French GermanandSpanish. For French,SpanishandGermanwe are dividedintodifferentgroups,sothateachstudentstudiesthree languages.Otherspecificsubjects of ourcurriculumare:TourismGeography,ArtHistory,Rightand BusinessTourist Studies. We attendschool 6 days a weekonlyinthe morning,fromMondayto Saturday. We start everydayat 8 a.m., on two days we stay at school until 1 p.m. , on three daysuntil 2p.m.and on Saturdayuntil midday. COMO AND SPORT Comois alsofamousforsports. The most popularsportsinComo are soccer, waterpoloandrowing.

Soccer isa sport that a lot of people like towatch,because Comohasa teamthat playsin the Italian secondleague (serieB).Before theyusedtoplay inthe thirdleague (serie C),butnow theyhave been promoted inthisleague anditisa reasonof proud forComo inhabitants. Comohas alsoa reallyoldwaterpoloandswimmingtradition,in factComoNuoto(the name of the local waterpoloteam) hasexisted since 1914. Until last year theyplayedinthe firstItalianleague (serie A),but nowfor economicproblemstheyhave been downgradedinthe secondleague.Inthe meantimeGianluca Zambrotta,a famousfootball player,hasfoundedanew waterpoloteam(PallanuotoComo) thatalso plays insecondleague,thatalsomeansthatthis yeartherell be the derby,thatisveryimportantbecause itis the firstone since 1914. Anotherpopularsportis rowing. There isa team calledCanottieri Lario.Theyhave won16 titlesand they are the strongestteaminComo. There are alsosome people wholiveinComothathave wonOlympicsgoldenmedals,forexample Arianna Errigo, who practicesfencing,RobertoBargnainparaolympicscyclingandAntonioSpallinowhowasmayor of Comoand wona golden medal infencing. Como Comois a city inthe north of Italy,locatednearthe city of Milan.It is famousforitslake,whichoffersa beautiful viewfortourists. Thiscity isalsofamousfor George Clooneysvilla,infactlotsof importantpeople orstarschoose thisplace for theirholidaysbecauseitofferspeace aroundthe lake. The centerof Comowas foundedbythe Romanssothere are ancientbuildings.Amongthe monumentsof thistown,the most importantone isthe cathedral.
