A 2011 biochemistry graduate of Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania, Emma Wise was accepted to the Rhode Island Teaching Fellows program shortly after graduation. Through intensive training, practice teaching, and classroom observations, she successfully earned an Alternative Certification Program Certificate, qualifying her to teach full time. Emma Wise additionally worked as chemistry teacher with Central Falls High School in Rhode Island. She taught four courses to 104 students in the 10th grade and engaged closely with a veteran teacher to create a consistent, achievement-focused curriculum. She enjoys collaborating and sharing strategies on science content pedagogy.
