I am a PhD student under the guidance of Prof. Detlef Weigel and Prof. Christine Dreyer at the Max Planck Institute for Developmental Biology in Tuebingen, Germany. I am interested in the evolution of sex chromosomes and differences between sexes. Specifically, my thesis deals with gene expression differences between male and female guppies. The guppy or Poecilia reticulata is a tiny freshwater livebearing fish that is native to north-eastern S.America and Trinidad. The males and females show distinct morphological and behavioural phenotypes that have been studied with respect to ecology and adaptation.
