The Eaton electrical plant in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico was losing hundreds of gallons of water daily to evaporation and set a goal to reduce water usage by 10% in 2014. An employee proposed capturing rainwater and condensation in tanks to reuse for cooling towers, saving over 500,000 gallons in the first six months and reducing water usage by 10% in 2014 and a further 3% in 2015.
