I am the first grandchild of Auschwitz survivors. Both my grandfather and grandmother (on my father side) have endured and survived the Nazi regime atrocities during WWII. My grandfather lost his first wife and 2 daughters in Auschwitz, they were sent to the gas chamber upon arrival to the camp. My grandfather and grandmother both survived but the experience has altered them both physically and mentally.
