This document discusses project management approaches and the author's experience with the Examiner.com project. It begins with a brief history of project management, covering early approaches from the 1st century BC to modern methods developed in the 1950s. It then outlines three common software development methodologies: cowboy coding, waterfall, and agile. The rest describes Examiner.com's agile hybrid approach, covering their team roles, sprint timeline, and communication tools like daily scrums and IRC.
The document discusses mental models and how people form conceptual understandings of how things work. It provides examples of how mental models can be faulty if they are based on incomplete or incorrect information. Faulty mental models can lead people to falsely blame themselves or others for problems. The document also discusses the nature of human goals, actions, and errors, explaining that people routinely make mistakes in their actions due to slips or failures of intention rather than deliberate mistakes.
Strategies for Efficiently (and Effectively) Using New MediaHHS Digital

This document provides an explanation of how the Prfm Programming Language uses a stack to control drawings and animations. Key points covered include:
- Commands like addition, translation and repetition operate by pushing numbers onto a stack and popping them off to use as parameters.
- Repetition works by pushing a count onto the stack, decrementing it each loop, and continuing until it reaches zero.
- Copying elements from the stack using "ref" allows values to be preserved across commands like in a repetition loop to vary brush numbers each iteration.
- The stack approach provides flexibility to vary parameters dynamically based on previous calculations rather than using fixed values.
The document proposes a model for funding school collaboration and resources focused on 21st century skills. It discusses selecting schools to participate in the initiative that are committed to transforming learning environments. Selected schools would receive funding for professional development, curriculum design, and technology to implement new teaching approaches preparing students for future careers. An selection process identified 18 school projects from a diverse set of schools that demonstrated a vision for change and potential for impact. The initiative incorporates social networks, meetings, conferences, and travel for participants to collaborate and share progress on transforming education.

The document discusses approaches to fixing a broken patent system. A perfect patent system aims to promote innovation through securing exclusive rights for inventors. An imperfect system has defects in determining whether patents are novel, non-obvious, and eligible. This can have parasitic effects that negatively impact innovation. A broken system features a vicious circle where weakened patent rights reduce innovation and social benefits. The document proposes ex-ante cures for these defects, including shifting to a patent ecosystem approach with collaboration among members and social consensus on patent standards, coordinated by a central authority.

QR codes provide a way to link physical objects and locations to online content and resources using mobile devices. The document discusses how QR codes work and their history. It also provides examples of how QR codes can be used on a college campus to direct students to course materials, disseminate contact information, and link people to further information. Some challenges with QR codes are that users need a mobile device and QR code reader, and standards for readers are still being developed. However, QR codes allow for experiential learning by bringing online resources into physical experiences.

This document discusses predicting antitrust enforcement against Google's Android licensing practices in the US and EU based on past cases. It argues the EU will likely find the free Android licensing anti-competitive and Google's bundling of services an abuse of dominance. The US FTC will weigh Android's benefits and may require measures to ensure fair competition. The document analyzes differences in US and EU antitrust law and enforcement through cases on Google search and Microsoft Windows.
Billy Connolly is one of Scotland's greatest comedy success stories. He became famous in the 1970s for his stand-up routines and distinctive Glaswegian humor. While hugely popular in the UK, he faced criticism for leaving Scotland to pursue opportunities in Hollywood. Connolly enjoyed moderate success as an actor but never fully cracked the American market. Recent years have seen a return to Scottish film and TV productions. Connolly has a complex relationship with his homeland, both proud of his roots but also feeling misunderstood by the Scottish media at times. He remains one of the most successful British comedians internationally.

It describes the cell-specific reference signals defined in the standard, including their lattice structure and frequency shifts. It also outlines US20060285484 patent application and how it relates to generating pilot signals for multiple antennas ports according to the 3GPP specification to enable accurate channel estimation for high user speeds.
Community Over Code: How to Build a Successful ProjectJoe Brockmeier
油
This document discusses how to build a successful open source project with an emphasis on community over code. It recommends defining clear project goals and governance guidelines, investing in infrastructure like mailing lists and code repositories to support the community, engaging users through marketing and promotion, and focusing on open communication, mentorship, and diversity. The key is treating community as a continuous process rather than an end state and ensuring the project evolves to meet changing needs.
The fitness industry in New Zealand has seen increased membership numbers and a rise in popularity of class-based activities that promote social interaction. Two key demographic groups that present opportunities are baby boomers and children dealing with obesity problems. However, the industry also faces challenges like a high percentage of lapsed members due to cost and a scarcity of qualified staff and proper facilities. Strategies like offering more classes, sophisticated facility designs, and low-priced services could help attract new customers and address these issues.

Creatines Untold Story and How 30-Year-Old Lessons Can Shape the FutureSteve Jennings
油
Creatine burst into the public consciousness in 1992 when an investigative reporter inside the Olympic Village in Barcelona caught wind of British athletes using a product called Ergomax C150. This led to an explosion of interest in and questions about the ingredient after high-profile British athletes won multiple gold medals.
I developed Ergomax C150, working closely with the late and great Dr. Roger Harris (1944 2024), and Prof. Erik Hultman (1925 2011), the pioneering scientists behind the landmark studies of creatine and athletic performance in the early 1990s.
Thirty years on, these are the slides I used at the Sports & Active Nutrition Summit 2025 to share the story, the lessons from that time, and how and why creatine will play a pivotal role in tomorrows high-growth active nutrition and healthspan categories.
