Francois Laureys is Sector Developer Economic Development for IICD.
Born in 1960, he graduated in Communication Sciences at the University of Amsterdam in 1986, and worked as a radio journalist from 1986 until 1998. Between 1998 and 2001, he was editor news of the Radio Netherlands web site.
He joined IICD in 2001 in order to work on its Capacity Development programme, and worked in Bolivia, Burkina Faso and Mali. In the two latter countries, he also set up local information networks. He was country programme manager for Mali and Burkina Faso from 2004 till 2010, and Regional Manager West-Africa from 2011 till 2013.
