I'm the rabbi for a Conservative Jewish congregation in a retirement community in Seal Beach, California. Before I became a jew-By-Choice in 1980 I had worked in the entertainment business for most of my adult life and a substantial part of my teen years. I met my husband, Bob Slater, not long after I moved to Leisure World (Seal Beach) and he and I have very similar backgrounds: we both studied opera, we both worked in musical theater (but never met), we are both native Californians, we both sang in nightclubs.
