Eugene Geist holds a PhD from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Child Development and Early Childhood Education. He has also attended the University of Cincinnati where he received a Masters in Education and a Bachelors of Science in History. He is currently an Associate Professor of Early Childhood Education at Ohio University in the school of Human and Consumer Sciences and is studying how children construct and learn mathematics. He has presented internationally on the concepts of Emergent Mathematics and the idea of a Mathematics Acquisition Device innate in every humans mind.
