Relative Clauses
Used to give additional information about
something without starting a new sentence.

Who:
We use WHO with a subject or object
pronoun for people.
? Examples
? I told you about the woman who lives next
door.
? They caught the man who spied for China.
? I saw the boy who visited you.

Which:
We use WHICH with subject or object
pronoun for animals and things.
? Examples
? I bought the magazine, which was
fantastic, in the library.
? I watched a movie which surprised me.
? The camera, which costs $100.000, is
amazing.

That:
We use THAT with subject or object pronouns
for people, animals, and things in defining
relative clauses.
? Examples
? I love the house that belongs to Leyla.
? The man that phoned was Gerson.
? Johan is dating a woman that I had
met before.

When:
We use WHEN to refer to a time
expression.
? Examples
? Christmas Day is a day when people are
happy.
? Do you remember the day when we met.
? The summer when I graduated from
university was long and hot.
