PLATONIC SOLIDS

The octahedron has 8 triangular faces and represents air
The tetrahedron has four triangular faces and represents fire
The dodecahedron has 12 pentagonal faces and represents the universe
The cube has 6 square faces and represents the earth
The icosahedron has 20 triangular faces and represents water
DIFFERENT POLYHEDRONS
• Although there are an infinite number of different polyhedrons, some are
characterized by having special characteristics. For example, the so-called
Platonic solids are called this way in reference to Plato that associated them
with the five elements of nature: fire, earth, air, water and universe.
• The existence of these solids was previously known by the Pythagoreans and
Egyptians that had already used some of them in architecture and other objects
  built.
