WSMO-Lite: Lightweight Descriptions of Services on the WebTomas Vitvar

WSMO-Lite provides lightweight semantic descriptions for web services based on an analysis of the minimum semantics needed. It defines an RDFS ontology to represent information, functional, behavioral, and non-functional semantics in a way that maps to SAWSDL annotations. WSMO-Lite semantics include capabilities to describe what a service does, and choreographies to describe how it is used through message exchange.

Seton Hall University uses Web 2.0 technologies like blogs and podcasts to engage incoming freshmen students in the campus community prior to their first semester. The Freshman Studies department creates blog posts and podcast episodes throughout the summer to introduce students to resources and events. A survey found that 33% of freshmen said the podcasts helped prepare them for their first year. The program will continue using these technologies and get student feedback on how to improve engagement over the summer.
