Course 
Objective 
This intensive 1-day course aims to create awareness for crime prevention and 
provide practical and applicable self defense techniques that can be used 
confidently by the course participants. 
Learning 
Outcomes 
Upon completion of this intensive 1-day course, participants should be able to: 
• Identify types of crime 
• Identify how and when a crime takes place 
• Identify weak spots or vulnerable parts of the body 
• Apply effective self-defense techniques to defend oneself from attackers 
Methodology 
This learner-centered course comprises brief lectures, presentations, 
demonstrations, discussions and role plays that provide participants with 
valuable learning opportunities to practice their newly-acquired knowledge and 
skills. 
To ensure that effective learning has taken place, a summative assessment 
(Module 8) in the form of a demonstration, will be conducted at the end of the 
course: 
1. The assessment is done in pairs (Participants must work in pairs). 
2. Each pair demonstrates a simulated scene (i.e. a person who is about to 
be mugged from behind). 
3. The duration for the assessment is between 5 to 10 minutes per pair. 
4. Oral/Written feedback will be given after each presentation.

Module 2: Identifying the Weak Spots/Vulnerable Parts of the Human Body 
Module 3: An Introduction to the Basic Steps in Self Defense 
Module 4: Effective Steps in Counter-attack 
Module 5: Effective Steps in Anticipated Attacks 
Module 6: The First Move in Disabling the Attacker 
Module 7: Subsequent Moves in Disabling the Attacker 
Module 8: Summative Assessment, Feedback, Debriefing and Course
