Convening around purpose drives business value
COVID-19 keeps us isolated and makes convening harder. There is value to
convening virtually if it is purposeful and considerate of both the bene鍖ts
and the detractions of not being in the same physical space consuming a
shared experience.
Rather than watch a webinar and video on your own time, we should be
focused on a shared virtual experience.

Re-introducing humble pop-ups
Our digital events are an extension of our long-standing in-person
Innovation Pop-Up series with the goal of introducing some of our strongest
partners to our network of innovators around purposeful content.
This curated event aims to educate, entertain, and solve speci鍖c growth and
innovation-related problems for our sponsors.
We produce this event using a variety of technologies to enable the best
overall experience for users.

Hopins platform is not your average webinar
Hopins platform is easy to understand
and navigable by any attendee.
Interactions (polling/chat) between
attendees as well as a Chatroulette-style
video networking feature help
individuals build meaningful connection
through digital engagement.
Hopin is the only platform that provides
everything to host an event with
sessions, keynotes, webinars, breakouts,
networking, and 鍖reside chats. But
thats just the front of the house. Hopin
also features everything you need to
manage an event from end to end:
Registration pages, expos, sponsors,
reception areas, backstages, and
analytics. 5
Our Program includes:
 Panel discussion with the moderator
 Fireside 1-1 chats
 Keynote speech
 Ask me Anything (AMA) breakout
sessions
 Poll beforehand to consider the
demand
 Forced serendipity: guided video
speed dating
 Sponsor booths
 Live streaming entertainment (BYOB)
Introducing Pop-Ups | May 2020
Main stage
Main stage is where all the top-line programming will take place. Main Stage allows for 6 concurrent
panelists to be on at the same time. Keynotes, Fireside chats and panel discussions can and will all
take place on the Main Sage.

Introducing Pop-Ups | May 2020
Ask me anything (AMA) breakout sessions
Hopin provides an opportunity to create breakout sessions during an event. During this time, the
attendees will be given an option to a breakout session, which is a smaller discussion that can have up
to 10 panelists. Up to 1500 attendees can view a breakout session, and breakout sessions can run
concurrently, providing different tracks of programming for attendees to choose over a speci鍖c period
of time.

Forced serendipity: guided video networking
When you join a 1-on-1, you are paired up with one
person at a time via Hopins video chat for a
predetermined amount of time set by the organizer it
could be two minutes or ten minutes! Once the time is up
(theres a timer), Hopin automatically moves you to the
next person.
Matching is 100% random. Youll never meet the same
person twice at a Hopin event, however we can set
speci鍖c groups of attendees to meet each other. The
organizer can set certain ticket types to meet with only
other certain ticket types. We could have folks in other
markets only be matched with people outside of their
geographic market so that they can expand their network.
You can stop meeting with someone and move to the
next person anytime you want.

Challenge: VC in DC, a membership
organization, wanted to host an online event
like its in-person quarterly event for
Washington, DC-area VCs, angel investors,
early-stage growth equity, and venture debt
firms.
Approach: We coordinated and produced an
online gathering replicating the engagement and
warmth of VC in DCs long-standing in-person
events. At the virtual Pop-Up attendees learned,
interacted, and connected with people from
wherever.
