Mushrooms provide a nutritious, protein-rich food with most of its species exhibiting medicinal properties. Already, the bioconversion of lignocellulosic biomass by the mushroom industry to food and useful products is presenting a strong potential to the management of agricultural and industrial wastes at the international level.
