In 2016 I was awarded a 3-year Post-Doc Research Fellowship funded by the Government of the Basque Country. I moved to the UK and joined the International Gaming Research Unit (IGRU) located within the Psychology Division of Nottingham Trent University, where I have been working since. My tasks here involve the research on the mechanisms of mediasport communication to influence sports fans to bet online. I am particularly interested in understanding how 'mediasport' –journalists, outlets, social media influencers, celebrities, endorsements by pro athletes and teams, commercials, etc– might induce in some cases a gambling addiction.
