Betung Kerihun National Park (BKNP) is one of the most important protected areas and the biggest conservation area in Indonesia. It situated in the Heart of Borneo area, and shares common borders with two protected areas in Sarawak state of Malaysia namely Lanjak Entimau Wildlife Sanctuary (LEWS) and Batang Ai National Park (BANP). There is a growing recognition that effective strategies to conserve biodiversity must emphasize trans-boundary cooperation between the bordering countries in relation to shared ecosystems and other conservation concerns.
