The most important job for a social studies teacher is to instill a lifelong love of learning and to teach the ability to analyze, question, and synthesize the vast amount of stimuli and information in life. A good citizen, in a Democracy particularly, needs to be able to think for him/herself. Not only is this important in a civic sense, but in every aspect of life.
