Universal Music Group plans to target "casual" pirates who download music but ignore "hardcore" pirates who do it for status and will never use legal downloads. A quarter of a million British jobs in the music, film, TV, software and other creative industries could be lost by 2015 if online piracy continues at its current rate. Due to illegal downloads, 1.4 billion pounds were lost to the British economy in 2008.
