Born in Los Angeles, where my father's side of the family is from, I was raised mostly in Detroit, where my mother's side of the family is from. A graduate of Hollywood (CA) HS, I first studied music at University of Southern California, Stanford and San Francisco State. I switched to psychology, graduating with BA and MS degrees from George Williams College in Chicago. This is where I met my wife, Margie. We came to Pittsburgh for me to pursue doctoral study in psychology at Duquesne University and have been here ever since. Our children, Becky and Josh were born and raised in Pittsburgh.
