Even after teaching for close to twenty-five years, I still get a feeling of butterflies each time I walk into a classroom. I believe this is testament to the fact that for me, teaching is a vocation, something that I think of every day and something that I continue to hone and improve. What do I love about teaching? The look of surprise on young faces when you take your shoes off because you just can鈥檛 do Shakespeare in high heels. The burgeoning receptiveness to poetry, simply because your love for Heaney has somehow transferred from page to life.
