11. Family Style or English Style
- Thisis an informal way of table
setting wherein the foods are
placed at the middle of the table.
Each family member just get what
she/he wants on a plate. He may
also request passing of a food far
from his reach.
12. Russian Style
- This is a formal way of table
setting and serving. This is done
in big and formal parties. In this
style, a waiter or housemaid
serves each dish to the person
eating.
13. Buffet Style
- This style is used when there
are many guests. Each one gets
his own plate, fork, spoons and
food to eat. After which she/he
can sit in any place with the
people he would like to eat
with.
14. - For some special family get
together or even for everyday
meal setting, a centerpiece
may be used. This may be a
fruit arrangement,
flower arrangement,
or green plants
on a vase.
15. A cover is the space allotted to
each person on the dining table
together with the table appointments:
the dinnerware, the flatware and the
glassware.
A cover is spaced 1 inch from the edge
of the table about 20-22 inches wide.
16. Proper Arrangement of Table
Appointments / Utensils in a cover:
Plate is placed at the center of
the cover.
Knife is placed at the right side
of the plate, with its blade or sharp
edge toward the plate.
17. Spoon is placed at the right side
of the knife with its face upward.
Cup and Saucer is placed at
the right side above the spoon.
Water glass is placed at the
top most part above the knife.
18. Teaspoon is placed vertically at
the center above the plate with its
face upward at the left.
Bread and Butter / Rice
Plate is placed at the left of the
service plate above the fork.
19. Napkin is placed at the left side
after the fork.
Fork is placed at the left side of
the plate with its sharp edge facing
upward.
20. 遜 crosswise
Directions: Draw and label the
table utensils in their proper place
in a cover (10 pts).
21. On a 遜 sheet of paper
(crosswise), write at least 5 rules of
table courtesy.
