Remembering those who died Sept. 11th: In NY, 2,152 civilians, 343 members of the New York Fire Department, including the chief, 37 members of the Port Authority Police Department and 23 members of the New York Police Department. 184 died when American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon, and 40 died when United Airlines Flight 93 crashed in rural Pennsylvania. I would also like to remember the search dogs of Sept. 11, 2001, who were sent where people could not go and often later suffered health consequences like many other human search and rescue workers.
