I've been working in the web and graphic design industry since 1995, when I first started working for a small agency (Cotter Advertising) right out of college. I taught myself HTML using PageMill and learned about the printing process from a great little printshop. I worked part-time at the Pennysaver doing advertising layout, in an now archaic layout program.
I moved on to another small company (which was renamed 3 times), where I worked outside of DC. I worked with a host of companies in the healthcare, government, and nonprofit sectors. I met some great, talented people there, who taught me about the workplace and how a small business can really be a family of friends.
