Joe Najib was born into a family of writers, where language proficiency in the household was a no-nonsense matter. Perhaps this was to be his saving grace, when later in his teenage years, he didn't excel academically. The spotlight was never far though, as he represented his school in bowling tournaments and English debates, and was suspended one too many times for playing truant.
He joined the One Academy of Communication Design, one of Malaysia's premier art institutions, in 1996.
