In korea, we believe that names and their meanings carry energy and that each time you are called by name, the energy of that name surrounds you. When i got accepted to Bastyr, my mom took me to a name maker, and I was given the name, Daeyeon (??; 大然; translation="Great Nature"), to help me fulfill my calling as a healer.
I have been shy about using what feels like such a big name, but I would like to start the New Year by inviting you to call me Daeyeon instead of my birth name.
