My work taps into the many layers of a visual experience and the memory of it that remains. Multilayered cityscapes and abstract expressions attempt to preserve and convey my memory of an entire experience, not only what I witnessed visually, but also the conversations, sounds, smells and emotions, through texture, colour, shadow and line. My interest in these places comes from an undeniable presence of the energies that survive in the air, in the structures, in the ground I walked upon. This thickness of time I try to represent by incorporating fragments of surfaces ravaged by centuries of weather, decay, pollution and human friction.
