Prior to coming to the JSS University he was a Post Doctoral Fellow at OUHSC, USA. He has received his Master of Sciences in Microbiology from Kuvempu University, Davangere and Ph.D. from Dept. of Medical Microbiology, Dr.ALM PGIBMS, Madras University, Chennai. His main work on Molecular characterisation of Hepatitis B and C virus infection in certain tribal population of Tamilnadu India. Also served as Post Doctoral Fellow at University of Malaya, West Virginia University, USA and Oklahoma University.
