Kawakatsu was born in Osaka and grew up in Osaka, Japan. After graduating from the Kobe University, Kawakatsu joined the Sanwa Bank - now Mitsubishi-Tokyo-UFJ Bank - in 1995 and worked at the corporate sales team for getting the new clients.
